We had the pleasure of staying the second time (after the first stay in 2015) at Rocky’s Boutique Resort.
You will find an absolutely stunning resort. We were extremely happy how well everything is maintained and managed.
The Resort is rather small (around 50 rooms & suites) and extremely nicely situated very close to Lamai Beach. It’s very quiet, clean and very well managed. The staff is one of the most friendliest I’ve experienced so far. The amount of energy and effort they put to keep the resort to that high level is outstanding.
Some more information :
- Room: Our room (Deluxe Pool View) was very clean, extremely nicely decorated in Thai style. Very nice and comfortable Kingsize bed. Spacious balcony. Spacious bathroom with rain shower. Air condition and fans are perfect.
- Pools: There are 2 large pools in the main area of the resort which are connected via 2 little waterfalls. There is 1 more smaller pool close to the beach. All sweet water. All pools have very good water quality (not too much chemicals inside). The smaller pool at the beach has just been fully renovated during the week of our stay.
- Beach: Rocky’s has 2 beaches - one larger beach close to the main restaurant and one smaller beach a few steps away. The beaches are small but very clean. Sun beds, sun umbrellas and towels are provided for free. The staff takes very much care and serves complementary fresh water and fruits. The water is not deep at all but perfect for just floating around and enjoying life. For swimming you can walk about 200 meters where the water becomes deeper. Kayaks and swim shoes are also available free of charge. Corals close to the beach are nice for snorkeling.
- Restaurants: Rocky’s has 2 restaurants (“The Dining Room” situated at the beach/sea where also the breakfast is served; “The Bistro” situated at the main pool). The food is very delicious. Western food and Thai food is offered at very high quality for reasonable prices. “The Dining Room” offers event nights every day with Thai dancers, fire shows, etc.
- Pool Bars: Rocky’s has 2 pool bars. You should try Young Coconut which is simply delicious.
Our stay was more than perfect and we will definitely be back in the future. I though a lot about finding any negative points and some constructive criticism. I haven’t been successful as there isn’t anything where we could complain about. :-)

We have just finished our first Thailand experience at Rocky’s Boutique Resort on Koh Samui Island . The resort is almost a hideaway, as it is located south of Lamai, away from the nightmare districts with all the loud bars and girls. If you are interested in a vacation where you can truely relax, we highly recommend Rocky’s.
As soon as we had arrived, we felt welcome. All staff is professionally trained, no matter if we talk about the reception, restaurants, pool bar, spa or housekeeping. All people working at Rocky’s give you a feeling of great hospitality.
The room with garden view was actually with pool view and awaited us well air conditioned. It’s really big enough and has an additional sofa, enough storage facilities for your luggage and clothes. The bathroom opens with a two wing door and is equipped with a rain dance type shower and a handheld shower. Toilet comes with local water shower to keep you clean. We loved to stay in our room, as the aircon was working perfectly well or you could switch on a big fan at the ceiling during nights. In front of the room was a nice terrace, where we enjoyed to sit sometimes.
The restaurants offer a great variety and high level cuisine. A very great Thank you to the chef and his whole team. Every foodie will love to eat at one of the restaurants, no matter if you chose Thai style or western style. Even though we are used to go to local restaurants outside on the streets, we had a three course dinner at the restaurant, as we felt from the breakfast, that we have to give it a try for a dinner. The breakfast restaurant offers a great sight over the bay area. Breakfast is a mixture of buffet style and a la carte. It offers both, Asian style and western style. You won’t miss something. We recommend you to chose a freshly cooked noodle soup with local spices or one of the egg specialities from the menu, e.g. Egg Benedict or Egg Florentine or Royal Egg or... this is a must eat!
Staff will serve you with iced water and sometimes fresh fruit during the day as complementary service. The pool bar offers good drinks and it’s a nice place in the evening, where you should enjoy the signature cocktails from Rocky’s. The barkeeper is an expert. The hotel management offers daily changing evening program with great food and drinks. There is also a daily happy hour at the bar. Prices are still reasonable from our point of view. We attended the cocktail night, which was a complementary service from the hotel. All managers were introduced to the guests and we could enjoy two different cocktail specials as well as one alcohol free mocktail.
Of course we also went to the spa to get a massage. The spa itself is located in a separate quiet area of the hotel complex. Compared to other hotels we know from Asia, it is less luxury. Prices are higher than outside but the massage is really excellent, so give it a try.
We loved to stay at Rocky’s and we can highly recommend it.

To anybody considering a stay at Rocky’s - do it - you won’t be disappointed!!
We spent 10 days at Rocky’s in June, and can safely say it is the best hotel we have ever stayed at!
The hotel is gorgeous - adorned in fresh flowers everywhere you look, and the staff are so polite and attentive - they are the real stars of this hotel!
Our garden view room was large, private, and cleaned multiple times a day.
Rocky’s location is brilliant - situated about a 5 min taxi ride from Lamai (which has plenty of shops and restaurants and a long white sandy beach lined with palm trees), the taxi ride will only cost 200baht, and Rocky’s offer a free shuttle at various times that we also made good use of.
The breakfasts were delicious with plenty of choice, and eggs cooked fresh for you every day. We also ate at the hotel for the beach BBQ, and this is well worth the money - perfectly cooked food, wine and a fire show in the sea - wow!
The pool areas are beautifully maintained, surrounded by waterfalls, cabanas and koi carp ponds. You never struggle to get a sun bed at either pool, and as soon as you turn up, are greeted by a member of staff that will help with your towels and umbrella, and bring you fresh water and fruit skewers.
We used just about every facility Rocky’s had to offer, from a Thai massage overlooking the sea, to a game of pool in the games room, to a flat white in the Glass Room, and all were faultless.
In general, Koh Samui is a truly stunning place, with beautiful jungle and beaches alike, and filled with very friendly people - we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it, and Rocky’s, to anyone!

Thank you to the team at Rockys for such an amazing time! We have had a great holiday and really didn’t want to go home!!
The hotel is fabulous so many little touches that make this hotel amazing from sweets on you bed every evening to a coffee/reading room for when you need a break from the sun to a constant supply of cold water when sunbathing and the free fruit skewer!
The staff are so friendly, attentive and funny. You have a great team!!

Stayed at Rocky’s for 8 nights, at the beginning of May. We were there to celebrate my 50th birthday.
I was so in awe of this place, it’s just beautiful throughout. Every view has something to love, I took so many photos of the views around the setting.
We had a garden pool room.
I have travelled quite a bit, and must admit that this is one place a I would gladly return to. The staff at Rockys are very attentive, nothing is too much trouble, we were treated so respectfully and were always recognises and called by our names. The simple touches are definitely what makes this place so special.
I have no complaints.....which for me is a miracle

Stayed here for our daughters wedding... fantastic, and congratulations to Rocky's for putting on such a brilliant day for us all... well done to all of you.
Our whole stay was relaxed and refined - the resort itself was brilliant with staff who could not do enough for you... from bringing around chilled water, fruit kebabs and refreshments... all good stuff.
Restaurants were excellent, and the food was brilliant...
Did an Island tour organised from the hotel, and a fishing trip using the hotel boat... fab time. Yes, we did catch fish which were of a decent size.
Highly recommend this place for a stay.. Great for Lamai Beach as well.

Where to start
We visited Rocky’s for my wife’s birthday, having stayed at Rocky’s previously.
We cannot express our thanks to all the staff who made our stay such a wonderful experience. Our room was always immaculate the staff who looked after them do a brilliant job special thanks to Precious our maid who is a joy to know.
Restaurants were excellent, and the food was brilliant...
Did an Island tour organised from the hotel, and a fishing trip using the hotel boat... fab time. Yes, we did catch fish which were of a decent size.
We will see you all again next year and a we thank you all so very much just so special thank you to each & everyone at Rocky’s,
