Rocky’s Boutique Resort Reviews from our guests

The food is fantastic, they've hired some top chefs. The staff really looked out for our best interests fulfilling many of our requests and even sent out a squad to rescue us from the ocean. The room and decor are gorgeous, with something going on all the time. Unfortunately we went during the time of year when the beach is swallowed by the sea, but the Martin can't control that. If you want a quiet location away from the crowds, this is where you want to go. Stayed December 2012, traveled with friends

I stayed at Rocky's Resort for 6 days in July 12 with my daughter(18) and son(10). We thought Rocky's was a beautiful resort. We were treated very well and all the staff were lovely particularly Nok who was always very sweet to us. We would not spend everyday at the Resort because we are not, 'stay around the pool' tyoe people, and quite frankly it would drive us mad. However, the charm of Koh Samui is to explore and discover the place. This was the case even in 1990 when I first visited the island with my husband. You can rent a car or a motor bike from the resort, which is what we did. We rented the wee sporty suskie which was so much fun and well worth the money. Yes, the beach is not very good, but there are other swimming beaches near by. Ok, Rocky's isn't the most perfect resort in the world, but they do try their very best and we had a very good time. The food in the restaurant was good but a bit too expensive for us. However, our overall experience of the resort was great and we have been left with fond and good memories. Yes, we would stay at Rocky's again!

Loved everything about this place. Its a small, elegant boutiqe resort. The room we had, an ocean view delux suite has AMAZING beautyful view, it so lovely, every little detail that made the room so special and felt very luxurus and very spacious with a lovely daybed facing the sea. I like to feel that the hotel reflect the country i'm in and here it was Thai decor all the way. The resort has a private beach witch we enjoyed, nice pools and sunbeds facing the ocean. You get as many fresh towels as you want and icewater and fruites are served. The poolresponsible Chiu is a very polite and nice man. The food in both resturants are exellent! Very good service - only a potencial for inprovement with the breakfast personell witch was a bit slow. Othervise perfect - the grounds are beautyful kept. Fresh flowers everywere, you will find delicate details everywhere you look and the resort id especially lovely at nighttime with all the lights and lanterns making a beautyful setting. Two weddings tok place while we were there, one buddhist seremoni and one western seremoni. It was so beautyful made up, set on a privat beach - and I can see why people choose this resort for their wedding as it it is truly romantic
Thanks to manager Julian for making us feel so welcome allways nice and friendly and most helpful. We will be back for sure! Stayed January 2013, traveled as a couple

We stayed at Rocky's resort for 6 nights from 7-13 January 2013, the weather was great and between 32-36 degrees during the day and 28-30 degrees at night, perfect!
We ordered the Limousine service from Samui airport and were immediatly greeted by Bom from the Rocky's resort, the vehicle had cold towels and bottled water, Bom was also very pleasant so this was a great first impression.
We arrived at the resort about 30 minutes later and were greeted at reception by the smiling receptionist Tang and the front of house manager Boi, they were genuinly interested in our trip so far and welcomed us to Rocky's.
We were in a Deluxe pool view villa room, number 605, we booked direct with Rocky's and paid 7700 baht a night, this represented good value for money and was less expensive than booking through an agent. The room was spacious and very beautiful, it was obvious that someone had taken a lot of time to ensure every detail was perfect, and the biggest thing to us was the bed, large and very comfortable.
We went on a walk around the resort, it very much had a feeling like the Maldives, the restaurant was right by the ocean, the ocean a lovely blue colour and just the right amount of vegetation around the resort. There were two swimming pools, one next to the sea and one close to the grill restaurant.
The resort has many themed nights and our first night was a Thai BBQ evening which involved food and entertainment, the food was amazing, a variety of dishes with an international twist, something for everyone with lots of different fish, meat and chicken dishes, simply delicious. The evenings entertainment was great, initially it started with a live guitarist and singer followed by a very tasteful ladyboy cabaret, really good fun. We also went to the Thai food night which was amazing, they had some traditional thai dancers that evening which really was the icing on the cake. We ate 3 nights in the restaurant and one in the grill, I have to give a big pat on the back to the amazing chef Azizs, he is always in evident, checking the food and serving the most amazing dishes, I suggest that Rocky's ensure they keep hold of such a talented chef, our total food experience was first class.
The service in the Restaurant was also totally professional, Food and Beverage Manager was a younger chap from France called Julien, a charming man with a really good knowledge of food and Wine, every night he choose the wine for us to compliment our meal and they were all perfect choices, thank you Julien. I would mention some of the other waitresses, all Thai and extremely pleasant, Tiew, Prik and L thank you.
The breakfasts at this resort are not to be missed, a large choice of international food, all first class in quality and perfectly cooked, don't miss it.
Most days we bumped into Colette who is one of the owners of the resort, she is british and very personable, the resorts beauty is down to her as she organises all the decor and attention to detail in the resort, quite some talent.
The only negative was the lack of a gym, however we did chat with a personal trainer called Marco who said he would happily do personal training sessions, eventually we decided that it was a holiday and using any gym would only stop us from getting more of a tan!
This resort has a further two amazing staff, Mira and Martin. Mira is a beautiful lady from Finland and is the Guest Services Manager, she chatted to us every day and nothing was too much trouble, thank you Mira. Martin is the resorts General Manager, he's English, very professional and customer service orientated, he works hard and chats happily with guests and staff, obviously extremely respected and liked by his staff. We attended Martin's managers cocktail party on Friday night and enjoyed the free cocktails as well as a brilliant display of cocktail aking and Juggling by Boat the resorts talented barman, how you can juggle 4 bottles of spirit is beyond me, very entertaining.
We also had a massage at the resorts spa area near the beach, it was amazing to be massaged whilst listening to the sounds of the waves, this is a must and an unforgetable experience. I asked guest relations to sort out a days golf for me and I played at the spectacular Santiburi a couple of times, 5000 baht a round plus 1800 baht to hire clubs, it sounds expensive but it was worth every penny, the views are just amazing, the caddies great, if only my golf was better though! One good bit of advice is to bring lots of mosquito spray, although the resort is sprayed fully once a week the island isn't, I sprayed myself two or three times a day and only got two bites.
To summarise the hotel is a 4 star catagory with 5 star accomodation, food and service, it represents extremely good valus for money and is about 50% of the cost of the Four Seasons, so if you like luxury and piece and quiet in beautiful surroundings then look no further. Finally on a funny note the only issue I had was the weight scales, obviously broken as when i arrived i weighted 79kg and when i left i weighed 82kg, please get those scales mended Martin!! Thank you Rocky's for an unforgetable holiday, we will without question be returning. Room Tip: The pool view rooms are amazing, suggest you go for a first floor one if you can. The sea view rooms... This was our best experience in Koh Samui (and we had a lot of experiences). We stayed here for six days and experienced home away from home with very friendly staff, very beautiful and sexy hotel grounds, romatic feel on the beach and overall a great start of New year. This small resort is positioned just south of Lamai beach with frequent and free hotel shuttles to Lamai town. Beach here is very private, small and secluded so you can enjoy private time. They also have 2 very nice and romantic pools next to the beach and in the garden area. Breakfast selection and taste was best what we had in thailand (in better than most european hotels we have been in). This is probably because thea have also a very fine restaurant "The dining room". We have tried chefs 5 course menu which was good mix of international dishes, very nice. The setting of the restaurant is very romantic for couples... though a bit expensive. There is also another bistro (smaller restaurant) on the grounds with good thai food.
Front office is managed by a great manager, Boi, who really makes you feel being at home and gives extra effort so you would feel special and welcome. This also goes for all of their staff. I is obvious that they put a lot of atention to staff selection as this is one of their best atributes. Rooms are spacious, luxurious, with very nice furnishing, with fresh orchids in all corners of the room. I would recommend this hotel for young and older couples as it is really romantic and special (there were also 2 weddings happening while we stayed there). Treat yourself and stay there!
Room Tip: All rooms facing the sea a very good. Best room in resort is 333.
